ROLLER COASTER -
The main objective of this course is to rid the body of all unnecessary mannerisms and tensions. The training combines contemporary dance with various techniques of body awareness training (Release Technique, Laban Movement Analysis, Feldenkrais, Pilates, Yoga, etc.). It is not about teaching a method with fixed rules, but learning to listen to one's body, experiencing and respecting its fundamental physical foundations such as weight, momentum, energy flow, direction, space, time, coordination, etc. The training includes stretching, manual practice, improvisation, exploring our movements as well as traditional modern dance technique exercises. In the second half of the workshop, a deeper body awareness is developed using a choreography phrase. It is a training for contemporary dancers or performers who are looking for a deeper, more diverse approach to movement and dance.
It is a course for dancers to strengthen and align the whole body incorporating functional stability.
Students will learn fundamental principles of the Pilates method like control, precision and using breath to support movement.
This method is highly beneficial for dancers and athletes because it develops deep abdominal engagement in order to move efficiently and effectively from the center.
The method also helps develop fluidity in movement and increases overall body awareness.
We will start the learning process by clarifying what ballet is and what are the basic principles underlying the work. We look for the special muscles needed for ballet positions and movements, and we will also discuss the relationships between them.
The classes usually begin on the ground with floor barre exercises that prepare the awakening body for the subsequent ballet training without the weight of the body. In this, we follow the traditional structure of the Vaganova system: barre, centre, allegro and diagonal exercises follow each other.
During the course we keep adding new exercises that are based on the previous ones thus we can gradually develop our skills and movement artistry.
