Contemporary performance practices are constantly redefined and embrace diverse people, cultures, aesthetic values and practices. In our program, performing arts are viewed in the broadest sense, covering choreography, theater practices, performance art, digital performances, trans- and nondisciplinary works. We approach these versatile practices from movement because we believe that your body is a valuable reference point, whatever you choose to focus on as a performer and creator.

Our program lets you explore and experiment with the body in performance. The program goes beyond technical training as it equally emphasizes somatic approaches, movement research, improvisation and composition. As you expand your awareness in movement and technical capabilities, you will adapt the new vocabularies to your own body and gain confidence in using movement consciously in creation, thus stepping from execution to creation. At the beginning of the program, you will have time to look inside and focus on self-knowledge and then you will be increasingly engaged in group learning. By the end of the program, your knowledge about your body together with the understanding of your developing artistic identity and the group will lead you to create new artworks. You will be guided and supported on this journey as a performer and creator by experienced professionals.

Who is it for?

This program is for everyone who is interested in movement practice and performance. Our aim is to offer you a safe place where you can explore your individuality, broaden your horizons and develop your artistic voice. Our program brings together people from diverse backgrounds, thus giving the opportunity to find connections between various disciplines and ways of thinking.

Program Structure

The academic year is divided into periods, each followed by a shorter or longer break. Each period has a different emphasis and the program gradually leads you to independent performance-making.

During the academic year, you can gain stage experience through our studio demonstrations and through site-specific work in collaboration with other art venues and organizations. The program holds a closing performance in a theater in June 2025.

In the main program our weekly schedule will be made up of somatics, dance technique and creation classes. As the year progresses, more emphasis will be given to artistic creation.

You will have 14 classes/week in each period (note that in the last period the early afternoon classes might be replaced with rehearsals in order to prepare for the program closing performance in the theater), selected from the following range of subjects.

Somatics and conditioning: classes based on experiential anatomy, Body-Mind Centering, Feldenkrais technique, Laban Movement Analysis,  Bartenieff Fundamentals, Pilates, Floor barre, Stretching, Yoga
Dance techniques: various contemporary dance techniques, ballet and modern dance techniques
